All about the 'THE NOMAD TRAIL'

“Don’t settle down and sit in a place. Move around, be nomadic, make each day a new horizon.”

                                                                                                                                                        - Jon Krakauer

Some wander to discover… some, to find happiness… some, to unearth inner peace… and few, to realize life.

Humankind, since time immemorial has always been a nomad. They have been known by different names – explorer, seeker, traveler & many others.
Life is a journey and not a destination. Throughout our lives, we find many shelters. However, none of these shelters are permanent. A nomad has always known that permanent is temporary… life is in the moving.

As civilization evolved, the nomad that lies within each of us has become dormant. The urban world compels many, to believe that stability is the purpose of life. However, it is the explorer’s life, which is the most stable. He expects the unexpected… he senses the intangible… he perceives the abstract.

Welcome to THE NOMAD TRAIL where we take you into SPITI VALLEY, to a life - of exploration, of a new experience, a new vista & a new perspective each day.  The only stability here is the promise of a certain pattern to the uncertain chaos of life - The pattern of Exploration & Luxury Nomading at all times.

Join us as we journey into Spiti Valley – one of the most picturesque locations in India with the idea of awakening the nomad within us. Accompanying us will be an entourage comprising of chefs creating a bespoke menu to suit our tastes bud, experienced guides to tell us the local lore, assistant to cater our needs, to ensure our comfort throughout the journey & vehicles in best of conditions that allow us to experience a concept called 'Luxury Nomading’.

It remains shut during winters when most local inhabitants move to the lower reaches. Famous for its potatoes – considered the best in the world & the costliest, not to mention beautiful Kinnauri apples.  The drive is extremely beautiful as we straddle the Baspa river – to our left are snow clad mountains & our right, an entire valley full of apple orchards.

Kamru Fort: is a quiet sentinel, located at a fearsome altitude of 2,600 m above the sea level. Set amongst snow clad mountains & thick deodar forests with vantage viewing points that afford a glimpse of the entire valley. It is considered as one of the oldest forts of the region – it was an important point along the old Silk route, guarding caravans from bandits.

A fine example of the mix of Buddhist & Hindu influence – the fort boasts of one of the oldest idols of Sakhyamuni & besides it an idol of Kamakhya devi – believed to have brought in from Assam nearly 1000 years ago. If we go by the local lore, it is believed that fort has 36 crore gods & goddess residing in it.
